FINAL | Amalie Motor Oil Field | Attendance 10,201

Game Recap

Michael Lindsey’s two-point conversion reception from quarterback Stephen Wasil in overtime gave Tampa Bay a 78-77 victory Saturday night and kept the Storm’s (8-9) playoff hopes alive as they defeated the New Orleans VooDoo on the Amalie Motor Oil Field at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in front of 10,201 excited fans.

In overtime, Josh Bush’s fifth touchdown reception from Kurt Rocco gave the VooDoo (8-9) a 77-70 lead but a spectacular 51-yard kickoff return by Lindsey set up a Terence Cosby 5-yard run to close the lead to 77-76. Storm head coach Dave Ewart elected to go for the 2-pointer and the win, instead of a PAT to tie, and Wasil found Lindsey at the front of the endzone.

PRE-GAME COVERAGE

LAST TIME OUT

Starting quarterback Nick Hill sustained an injury that led to an early exit, but Stephen Wasil took over and completed 16-of-24 passes for 162 yards and five touchdowns as he led the Tampa Bay Storm to their first road victory of the season on Saturday night, a 65-61 win over the Pittsburgh Power at the CONSOL Energy Center.

The victory helped the Storm snap a season-high four-game losing streak and improve to 7-9 on the season, but more importantly, kept the team alive in the playoff race, while Pittsburgh dropped to 4-12 on the year.

Hill completed 10 of his 14 attempts on the night, and passed for 85 yards and two touchdowns before suffering an ankle injury in the second quarter. He did not return, but a solid outing by Wasil proved good enough to lead the Storm to a win.
