GAME RECAP

It was a familiar setting with a similar result, despite the Tampa Bay Storm attempting to start with a fresh slate as it faced the Jacksonville Sharks for the first round of the playoffs, tonight at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Despite holding the lead for a majority of the game, the Storm were defeated 69-62 tonight after fizzling in the final seconds of play.

The game began just how the Storm hoped, with momentum in their favor and staying neck-and-neck with the Sharks. Tampa Bay, who had the first possession of the game, and Jacksonville exchanged multiple scores in the first quarter. The Storm would have the 14-13 edge after the first 15 minutes of play...

GAME PREVIEW

TAMPA BAY – A rematch of South Division rivals Tampa Bay Storm and Jacksonville Sharks is set for Saturday, August 3 in the first round of the 2013 Arena Football League playoffs.  This is the Storm’s first appearance in the AFL playoffs since the team made a run to ArenaBowl XXIII in 2010.

This Saturday will mark the third meeting between these teams this season, and the ninth in series history.  Jacksonville won both matchups this season by an average of 8.5 points.  The Sharks also have the overall series advantage, winning seven out of the eight games played.  This is a game that showcases two teams on opposite ends of the spectrum...

LAST WEEK'S PERFORMANCE

The Tampa Bay Storm ended its season right where it started, at the hands of its intra-state rivals the Jacksonville Sharks as the two closed out the regular season Saturday night at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

With both teams already securing a berth in the playoffs, each roster looked similar to that when the two division-rivals faced each other during the season-opener in March.

Unfamiliarity would lead to a neck-and-neck game heading into the half, but Jacksonville, a team that the Storm has been successful against just once in team history last season, would eventually breakaway just enough at the end of the third quarter to hand Tampa Bay its 11th loss of the season in a 52-44 defeat...
