AFL, ESPN Announce Increased 2015 Television Schedule

Mar 5, 2015 Arena Football League

CHICAGO – Arena Football League action will once again return to ESPN networks in 2015, the League office announced today. Twelve regular season games will be televised on ESPN2 and ESPNEWS, while more than 80 games will be delivered on ESPN3, ESPN's live multi-screen sports network.

For the first time, each round of AFL postseason games will also be televised on ESPN networks, including ArenaBowl XXVIII, which will air Saturday, August 29 at 8 p.m. ET, live on ESPN. The regular season schedule kicks off on Sunday, March 29 with a Week 1 matchup between the Orlando Predators and Philadelphia Soul on ESPN2.

“Expanding our relationship with ESPN is a reflection of the increasing demand for Arena Football among sports enthusiasts,” Arena Football League Commissioner Scott C. Butera said. “Viewers turn to ESPN for highly entertaining sporting events, and increasing the presence of Arena Football on the television and digital networks is a highly encouraging sign of progress.”

All games on ESPN television networks will also be available on WatchESPN, which is accessible to fans with video subscriptions from an affiliated provider.

ESPN3 kicks off its schedule of AFL games with four contests on opening weekend, including the first game of the 2015 season – an American Conference matchup between the Tampa Bay Storm and defending conference champion Cleveland Gladiators, slated to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, March 27.

Fans who receive their internet or video subscriptions from an affiliated provider will have access to ESPN3 online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The ESPN video player will also be available on the AFL's website, www.ArenaFootball.com.
