AFL PLAYOFF SCENARIOS AS OF WEEK 16

PLAYOFF PICTURE

  • The ARIZONA RATTLERS hold the #1 spot in the West Division based on total number of wins (11) and in the National Conference due to holding a head-to-head tiebreaker over the SAN ANTONIO TALONS.
  • The SAN ANTONIO TALONS lead the Central Division based on total number of wins (11) but hold the #2 spot in the National Conference, due to the ARIZONA RATTLERS currently holding the head-to-head tiebreaker.
  • The #3 seed in the National Conference now belongs to the UTAH BLAZE based on total number of wins (10).
  • The CHICAGO RUSH moved into the #4 seed in the National Conference, edging the SAN JOSE SABERCATS due to having one fewer loss (5) than the SaberCats. The two teams matchup in Week 17.
  • The PHILADELPHIA SOUL clinched a playoff berth, the East Division championship and home field advantage in Week 15. The Soul have clinched the #1 seed in the American Conference.
  • The JACKSONVILLE SHARKS hold the #2 seed in the American Conference and lead in the South Division based on holding a head-to-head tiebreaker over the NEW ORLEANS VOODOO.
  • The NEW ORLEANS VOODOO currently hold the #3 spot in the American Conference based on head-to-head tiebreakers over the TAMPA BAY STORM and CLEVELAND GLADIATORS.
  • The GEORGIA FORCE hold the #4 seed in the American Conference behind the JACKSONVILLE SHARKS and NEW ORLEANS VOODOO in the South Division, based on total number of losses.

CLINCHING SCENARIOS

  • The SAN ANTONIO TALONS can clinch a playoff spot with a win over the KANSAS CITY COMMAND in Week 17.
  • The ARIZONA RATTLERS can clinch a playoff spot with a win and a SAN JOSE SABERCATS loss in Week 17.

SEEDING SCENARIOS

  • IF the SAN JOSE SABERCATS defeat the CHICAGO RUSH in Week 17, the SaberCats will move back into the #4 seed of the National Conference playoff picture. Despite holding a head-to-head tiebreaker over the UTAH BLAZE, the SaberCats currently fall behind the Blaze in the postseason standings based on total number of losses.
  • IF the NEW ORLEANS VOODOO defeat the JACKSONVILLE SHARKS and the GEORGIA FORCE win in Week 17, the VooDoo will hold the #2 seed of the American Conference, while the Force and Sharks would hold the #3 and #4 seeds, respectively.
  • IF the CLEVELAND GLADIATORS defeat the MILWAUKEE MUSTANGS and the GEORGIA FORCE and TAMPA BAY STORM lose in Week 17, the Gladiators would move into the #4 spot of the American Conference playoff picture.
  • IF the TAMPA BAY STORM defeat the PHILADELPHIA SOUL and the GEORGIA FORCE lose in Week 17, the Storm would move into the #4 spot of the American Conference playoff picture.

TIEBREAKERS

  • The ARIZONA RATTLERS hold a tiebreaker over the CHICAGO RUSH based on wins in head-to-head competition.
  • The ARIZONA RATTLERS hold a tiebreaker over the SAN ANTONIO TALONS based on wins in head-to-head competition. If the Talons defeat the Rattlers by more than 34 points in Week 19, the Talons would take over possession of the tiebreaker.
  • The ARIZONA RATTLERS hold a tiebreaker over the SPOKANE SHOCK based on wins in head-to-head competition. If the Shock defeat the Rattlers by more than four points in Week 17, the Shock would take over possession of the tiebreaker.
  • The ARIZONA RATTLERS hold a tiebreaker over the UTAH BLAZE based on wins in head-to-head competition. If the Blaze defeat the Rattlers by more than 16 points in their rematch in Week 18, the Blaze would take over possession of the tiebreaker.
