AFL releases 2015 Regular Season schedule

Dec 19, 2014 Tampa Bay Storm

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm is pleased to announce its home schedule for the 2015 season.

“It is our pleasure to release the 2015 Tampa Bay Storm home schedule,” announced team president Derrick Brooks.  “We, as an organization, always strive to be the model franchise of the Arena Football League.  We are looking forward to continuing that tradition this season, giving the fans an experience they will never forget.”

The team will kickoff the 2015 Arena Football League season at home against defending American Conference Champion, Cleveland Gladiators on Friday, March 27 at AMALIE Arena.  The team’s final home game will be versus the Los Angeles KISS on Saturday, August 1.

In a new twist to the AFL schedule, the Storm will play each South Division rival three times.  Tampa Bay will host the New Orleans VooDoo and the Jacksonville Sharks twice.  Fans will also be able to see the “War on I-4” three times this coming season as the Storm hosts the Orlando Predators on Saturday, July 11, with the team headed to Orlando on Saturday, May 16 and Saturday, August 8.  For the second time in team history, the Storm will be facing Orlando three times in the regular season.

The Philadelphia Soul will head to Tampa for a matchup on Friday, May 22.  The Storm defeated the Soul two out of three times in 2014, with both wins coming at home.

Tampa Bay will open its doors to National Conference rival, the San Jose SaberCats.  This will be San Jose’s first trip to Tampa since the 2011 season, when the Storm defeated the SaberCats by a score of 57- 44.

The Storm will head west twice in 2015, with the team visiting the Portland Thunder in week two.  Then Tampa will head to Arizona to take on the Rattlers in a clash of dynasties.  The Storm and the Rattlers are the only teams in AFL history with five ArenaBowl Championships.  The last time Tampa Bay headed to Arizona was in 1997.  The Storm is 3-2 all-time when facing Arizona on the road.

This season the Storm will play nine games on Friday evening.  Of the nine Friday night games, five will be at home, while the other four will be on the road.  Additionally each home game will kickoff at 7:30 PM.

Tampa Bay will not face the Las Vegas Outlaws or the Spokane Shock in 2015.
