TAMPA BAY – The Arena Football League announced today that Tampa Bay Storm JACK linebacker Alvin Ray Jackson was named the Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in week sixteen versus the Cleveland Gladiators.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jackson (6-foot-1, 200 lbs., Albany State) played a pivotal role for the Storm in its 57-27 victory over the Cleveland Gladiators in week sixteen. The six-year veteran led the team with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries, setting a team record for forced turnovers.
Jackson started the game at JACK linebacker reeling in an interception and returning it 19 yards for a touchdown. He was then pressed into defensive back duties due to injuries in the backfield. It was at this position where he hauled in his second interception and recovered a fumble. He would go on to recover a loose ball on special teams as well.
This was Jackson’s fourth career multi-interception game and he is now tied for 15th all-time in League history with 41 interceptions for his career.
This is Jackson’s second weekly award and the tenth for the Storm.
