The Tampa Bay Storm is pleased to announce that Grammy Award winning and multi-platinum recording artist, Coolio, will perform a free post-game concert following the team’s home opener versus the Orlando Predators, on Friday, April 1. Fans who purchase a ticket for the game will be able to attend the concert which will be held on AMALIE Motor Oil Field.
Growing up in Compton, CA, Coolio would go on to use his personal experiences as inspiration for his hip-hop career. His songs became instant hits and would go on to sell over 17 million records worldwide. His first studio album, It Takes a Thief, contained his breakout hit “Fantastic Voyage.” The song would reach number three on The Billboard Hot 100 and go on to sell over a million copies, earning it a platinum certification.
Coolio would follow-up his initial success with the chart-topping hit, “Gangsta’s Paradise.” The song, written for the film Dangerous Minds, was Coolio’s most successful single. It would go on to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100, selling over six million copies, making it Billboard Magazine’s number one single of 1995. “Gangsta’s Paradise” won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance and was nominated for Record of the Year.
The performance will headline an already jam-packed “Throwback Night” 25th Anniversary celebration which will include throwback uniforms, replica rings honoring the 1991 ArenaBowl Championship team, and specials on beer, beverages and hot dogs one hour prior to kickoff.
