Gregory Earns Second Weekly AFL Honor

The Tampa Bay Storm is pleased to announce that wide receiver Julius Gregory has earned the Cutters Catch of the Week for his performance in the Storm’s 52-48 victory over the Cleveland Gladiators. His performance also garnered him a nomination for the AFL MVP of the Week.

Cutters Catch of the Week: Gregory (6-feet-4, 225 lbs., Shaw) made several outstanding catches during the Storm’s win over the Gladiators, but the most important was the game-winning grab with 2.5 seconds left in regulation. Down by three points, Storm quarterback Jason Boltus found Gregory from eight yards out, putting the Storm ahead for good. The touchdown was Gregory’s 18th of the season.

Gregory is making a strong push for AFL Rookie of the Year honors, having caught a touchdown in seven consecutive games and two or more scores in five consecutive games.

This is Gregory’s second weekly Arena Football League award this season. He won the Cutters Catch of the Week award for his performance during week 12.

AFL MVP of the Week: Storm wide receiver Julius Gregory has also been nominated for the AFL MVP of the Week award. Gregory had a performance that affected nearly every aspect of the game. Not only did he grab the game-winning touchdown with 2.5 seconds left in regulation he also recovered a key onside kick with 1:36 remaining in regulation.  Gregory would go on to finish the night with nine receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Voting opens on Wednesday, June 24 at 1:00 p.m. EST, and can be found at The winner will be announced on Thursday, June 25.
