The Tampa Bay Storm is proud to announce that wide receiver and kick returner Kendrick Ings has signed with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League.

“We are extremely proud of Kendrick,” said Storm Vice President of Football Operations Jeff Gooch. “He worked hard and was a key player for us this past season. We are confident that Kendrick will make an impact in Detroit.”

Ings (5-foot-10, 180 lbs., Miller Grove H.S. (GA)) wrapped up his rookie season in the Arena Football League with the Storm. A player that excelled in all phases of the game, he was a force on offense and special teams. The Miami native started in 14-of-16 games for the Storm, reeling in 68 passes for 997 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Known for his speed, Ings was named the team’s kick returner coming out of training camp. He had 82 kick returns for 1,435 yards and three touchdowns. Ings had seven games this season in which he racked up 100+ kickoff return yards, including a 178-yard performance versus the Philadelphia Soul.

Ings wrapped up his rookie campaign in the top-5 of several categories including kick returns (82-3rd), kick return yards (1,435-4th) and kick return touchdowns (3-T3rd). He was also ranked fifth with 2,437 all-purpose yards.

Ings is one of four former Storm players that have joined NFL teams within the past two seasons, with the others being former jack linebacker Jean Fanor (Green Bay Packers), defensive lineman Frank Mays (Philadelphia Eagles), and offensive lineman Tyler Moore (Chicago Bears). He will be joining the Detroit Lions practice squad.
