TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired rookie defensive lineman OJ Mau, announced team vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.
“OJ is young, but he has shown the skills needed to be a successful defensive lineman,” said Gooch. “He is explosive off the ball and will provide extra push when attacking opposing offensive lines.”
Mau (6-foot-1, 305 lbs., Gardner-Webb) enters his rookie season in the AFL. The defensive standout played four seasons at Gardner-Webb, becoming the team’s first three-time All-America selection.
Mau started in 35-of-45 games over the course of his four-year collegiate career, recording 194.0 tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss, 13.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, a pass breakup and two blocked kicks.
The Masefau, AS native began his professional career with the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League when he signed with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2016. He also spent time with the Ottawa REDBLACKS of the Canadian Football League.
