Storm Bolsters Defensive Backfield

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired defensive back Shaine Boyle announced Storm vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.

“Shaine is a welcome addition to the Storm,” said Gooch.  “He played for Coach James last season and will help bolster our backfield.”

Boyle (5-foot-10, 190 lbs., Faulkner) enters his third season in the Arena Football League and first with the Storm.  He began his AFL career with the LA KISS in 2015 before moving on to the Portland Steel in 2016. 

The Hahnville, LA native started in 8-of-8 games for the Steel, finishing third on the team with 38.0 tackles, a half tackle for loss, an interception, a pass breakup and two fumble recoveries.  Boyle would also have 20 kickoff returns for 492 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, over the course of his career, Boyle has recorded 74.5 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 3 pass breakups, an interception, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Boyle played collegiately at the College of the Desert (CA) before settling in at Faulkner for his senior season.  In nine games, Boyle tallied 38.0 tackles and two interceptions.
