“Some of the best football players in the country are located right here in the Tampa Bay area,” said head coach Lawrence Samuels. “We are not only looking for talent, but we are looking for players that will represent the blue and gold in a professional manner on and off the field.”
This one-day tryout is open to interested players. All participants are competing to earn the opportunity to sign a professional contract with the Storm. Many players that have attended open tryouts in the past have found success including Michael Lindsey, Rodney Beamon and Arena Football League Hall of Famers Stevie Thomas and George LaFrance.
Participants will be able to take part in drills that will be conducted on AMALIE Motor Oil Field, the home turf of the Tampa Bay Storm. The Storm is the only team to conduct in-arena open tryouts, giving all players the ability to practice in game-like conditions.
The camp will be directed by Storm head coach Lawrence Samuels. The coaching staff will evaluate players in combine exercises such as the 40-yard dash, 20-yard short shuttle and 20-yard L-drill as well as have their height and weight recorded. Immediately following the testing participants will participate in position and one-on-one drills.
Interested players are encouraged to pre-register here. For those who register early and on-line, payment is $55 and can be made with a credit card. Pre-registration ends at noon on Friday, November 14.
Players can also register the morning of the open tryout. Payment is $75 for those that register the day of the open tryout. Payment must be made upon arrival and by cash or money order.
