TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm opens training camp Friday, March 17 at Skyway Park (3901 George Road, Tampa, FL 33634) in preparation for the 2017 Arena Football League season.
“The League is entering its 30th season and as the charter member we are proud to be a part of this great institution,” said Storm vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch. “The quest to restore the team to prominence begins in training camp. With Coach James leading the way along with his staff, and the current roster, we believe we have the tools necessary to compete at a high level.”
Players will report on Thursday, March 16 for physicals and team meetings at Florida Hospital, with the first day of practice starting on Friday, March 17 at Skyway Park at 10:00 a.m. ET. Friday will be the first of two non-contact practices (Friday and Saturday), with Sunday, March 19 being the first day of padded practice.
Training camp rosters consist of 35 players, plus invitees, who will compete for 24 spots on the opening roster. Final rosters must be turned into the League office by 5:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 1.
The Storm kicks off the 2017 AFL season on the road, on Saturday, April 8 when it heads to Cleveland, Ohio to take on the Gladiators at Quicken Loans Arena. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
