Was a three-year starter at Northeastern University before the school dropped the football program in 2009…Transferred to NC State in January of 2010 and moved right into the starting defensive end position where he recorded 20 tackles, 4.5 for loss and three sacks… While at Northeastern, was a two-time Colonial Athletic Association Academic all-conference choice and played 34 games while recording 141 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 12 sacks at defensive end and linebacker for Coach Rocky Hager.
Lettered in football, basketball and track at Rocklin High School... Earned all-conference honors as a senior... Hails from an athletic family, his sister Dorcas is a heptathlete at Wisconsin, sister Deborah ran track at Stanford (2005-08) and brother Akin was a linebacker at Arizona (2002-06) ... Majored in business with a finance concentration and in the offseason he worked as an Equities Trader for T3 Trading Group.
